About the Role
The Senior Business Development Executive will serve as a trusted practice group advisor for Ireland. Reporting to the Regional Head of Business Development, this role will have an important role to play in contributing to the development and execution of practice group strategy and will provide strategic and operational support to the Dublin-based business development function, supporting the future growth and success of the business. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic planning
- Work closely with practice leaders and the Regional Head of BD to define, implement and measure growth strategies aligned to practice group objectives
- Develop practical, data-led plans and budget proposals
- Set clear, measurable objectives and KPIs for assigned practices; run the annual planning and budgeting cycle and contribute to budgets for practice and lawyer activity
- Track and report on business development activities, demonstrating ROI where possible
- Confidently use internal marketing technologies and databases for planning, targeting and measurement
- Work with the global and regional Marketing team to develop engaging content for marketing campaigns, collateral, digital and other marketing tactics
- Identify, evaluate, and oversee strategic sponsorships and speaking opportunities at conferences and seminars for assigned practice groups
- Manage and compile legal directory submissions with the partners and helping the partners prepare for interviews with legal directory researchers
Business development & client relationship management
- Support on BD trips, ensuring that the purpose and objectives of those trips are scoped and agreed, the team is fully briefed, and follow-up actions are captured in the CRM system and implemented
- CRM database management including maintaining client and target lists
- Support the Regional Head of Business Development on programmes to grow and strengthen the firm’s client base and pipeline
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned practices; apply a holistic, client-centric approach to all work product
- Develop high-quality credentials, tailored proposals and pitches, including RFP responses and directory submissions, ensuring consistency and timely delivery
- Build strong relationships across departments and with lawyers in assigned practice groups
- Monitor practice and client information, competitor trends and news; use insights to inform lawyers of market developments, buyer trends and best practices
- Build a solid understanding of clients within assigned practices, including regulatory and market forces relevant to assigned practice groups
- Build a solid understanding of the competitive landscape to position offerings effectively
- Working with the events team, support on the planning, organisation, and delivery of conferences, seminars, client entertainment and other firm-hosted events
- Support the Regional Head of Business Development with identification and pursuit of opportunities to develop new and existing clients as well as proactively seeking out ways to upsell and cross sell into the wider Maples Group business
- Conduct analysis and identification of market, client and competitor developments and follow through with new business opportunities
- Help maintain internal processes, templates, and knowledge repositories for pitches, pursuits, and client development programs; ensure accuracy and compliance with data privacy and professional standards.
Management and coordination
- Support project delivery for multi-workstream BD initiatives within assigned practices; assist with coordination of resources and cross-functional teams to ensure timely progress
- Proactively share information proactively with colleagues; offer help where needed and contribute to a collaborative, positive team culture
- Take ownership of personal development and seek opportunities to learn from team projects and cross-functional collaboration
- Support on ad hoc strategic projects outside of the day-to-day responsibilities that benefit the wider function and firm
EXPERIENCE
What You Bring
The successful applicant will have the ability to engage credibly with all members of the organisation with enthusiasm and initiative. They will be able to provide strategic as well as operational support, and be an excellent communicator with good organisational and team player skills. Attention to detail and the ability to handle a consistent and varied workload is essential. The individual's skills and experience will include:
- Law firm experience, as well as a professional qualification in Marketing, Business or a related field is preferred
- Minimum five years' experience in a business development and/or marketing role in professional services with knowledge of the finance/legal industry, B2B target audiences and tactics, attention to detail, and exceptional project management skills
- Strong grasp of the Irish legal and commercial landscape, including sector trends and competitive dynamics.
- Demonstrated experience, ideally gained in a professional services environment, of managing senior stakeholders
- Experience with InterAction or similar CRM systems; with experience in maximising the data value
- A team player with the ability to build relationships within the marketing team both locally and globally
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong project management, organisational, time management and administrative skills
- A "can-do" attitude and hands-on approach where required
- Strong relationship skills and the ability to understand and quickly respond to the needs of internal stakeholders

- Decision making and problem solving - the ideal candidate will need to be able to juggle a number of ongoing projects simultaneously with associated deadlines and budgets. The individual should be calm under pressure and think through problem solving both logically and creatively
